We recommend you do as the locals do - wear layers and pack extras just in case. It’s easy to add and peel off layers for comfort in all temperatures, but you can’t put on what you don’t have. You may want to bring a warm soft shell or fleece jacket as well as a waterproof/windproof jacket. Be sure to bring comfortable walking shoes - whether its tennis shoes, hiking boots or a comfortable pair of flats - come prepared for your feet to enjoy the trip as much as the rest of you will. Anchorage is a laid back destination and casual attire is the norm.
